Are you looking for a simple, adorable, but meaningful Easter craft for your kids that uses things you already have in your home? Well, this craft is for you! The whole reason for Easter is for Jesus, and we can celebrate what He did on the cross for us with this simple cross activity that only uses items found it most homes with young children. This is an adorable decoration for Easter that is sure to please everyone.

First, gather the children and your supplies.
- Paper (We used glossy poster board that I cut for my kids, but cardstock would be fine as well.)
- Painter’s tape (or masking tape or washi tape)
- Black or brown construction paper
- Scissors
- Chalk (I used sidewalk chalk).
- Aerosol hairspray (optional)
Add tape to the paper to make stained glass panes.
You can use as many or as few pieces of tape as you want to. While some of my kids would have wanted way more, I limited them, so they had adequate places to color. If you would rather use washi tape or something else, that would work nicely. The goal is to use a tape that will be easily removed from the paper/poster board. (Using washi tape of varying widths would be a cool effect in this project.)

Next, use the chalk to color in each of the shapes between the tape lines.
This will give you the feeling of it looking like stained glass. The children can use as many colors as you have, or they can just use the same color in each shape. It is their project. These chalk colors will be perfect for spring, or you can use chalk pastels to make them more vibrant for your project. Some of my children enjoyed snudging their chalk, while others preferred to stay less messy. Encourage them to make the color go all the way to the edge of the tape lines.

Spray with an aerosol hairspray.
In order for the chalk to set in place and not rub off, spray it with aerosol hairspray. You can find sample ones easily in Walmart or Target — or you may already have this in your bathroom vanity. If you don’t have any, the project will be fine, but the chalk will rub off on clothing and hands pretty easily. Some have used a fixative spray that works well too.
Cut out strips of black or brown construction paper.
Next, cut two strips of brown or black paper for each child. Make one of the strips shorter than the other. Ask the children to glue the construction paper strips to their posters to form a cross — at the top, in the middle, or at the bottom.

This simple but meaningful Easter craft for your kids is now ready to display around your home or school. Put them on the fridge to be seen everyday leading up to Easter, in a front window for the neighbors to see, or on your wall as a cute decoration for your family to remember Jesus’ gift for us all!
(If you want to add a little something more to your project, you can have your children write an Easter Bible verse on it or glue a printed Bible verse onto the project. It is always a good idea to use more Scripture!)
