Nameless But Known

September 6, 2025 by thebiblicallymindedfamily Leave a Comment

“As I have encountered women all over the world, I have realized we have one significant need in common: we desire to be known, really known. Knowing comes from the tender protection and provision that we can only get from our Heavenly Father, who not only knows us and our circumstances but knows our hearts’ greatest need as well. In Nameless but Known, Tamar Miller reminds us of the mercy we have through the Gospel and the loving-kindness of Jesus to know us and change our hearts like only He can. This insightful book’s message is one to repeat to yourself over and over, and to share with a friend.”

I wrote this praise for my friend Tamar’s book, published this year by Kharis Publishing. Nameless but Known is a rich book that I highly recommend to my friends and family to deepen their understanding of the mercy of God. I wish to share this book with you as well.

Here are the top three reasons that I endorse this book:

1. Filled with Scripture

As you thumb through the pages of Nameless but Known, you will see bold text. Tamar writes all of the Scriptures she uses in this bold face text — not just the main text. This highlights the large number of verses that she included in her manuscript. As Biblically Minded Families, we love to see authors use the Word of God to teach Truth rather than relying on their own knowledge or cleverness. From the Old Testament to the New, you will be encouraged as you read about the mercy of our God, His love for His people, and the gift of salvation. This book highlights all of these things.

2. Chronicled six unnamed women’s encounters with Jesus

The book is intriguing: learning about six unnamed women who encountered Jesus and chronicling how their lives changed after experiencing His compassion and mercy. Were there really that many women with this description in the Gospels? I had to go to the Bible to find out for myself. Sure enough, they were right there waiting for me to discover them in this way.

In this book, Tamar takes a closer look at each woman and their time with Jesus to unpack their story and reveal the life change that Jesus brings with His ability to really know each one. I feel for each one of these ladies — the hard times that they have had and their need for the Savior. I can also identify with their desire to be fully known. Jesus is the one who truly knows them, even without listing their names in the Scriptures, and brings them love and mercy like no other can. I believe we can all see ourselves through these special women, especially since they are not named.

3. Gave thoughtful questions

Sometimes when we read a book like this, we can read and then just put the book down. But Tamar adds thoughtful questions at the end of each chapter to give us more to reflect on and wrestle with. I enjoy the time of reflection that the questions need. I meditate on these verses and answers throughout my day. She also included additional passages of Scripture to read on your own to further study each point of the chapter. I love this because I often want to take more time to study a topic when God puts it on my heart. I jump right into more study than the book had time to develop by reading these additional passages.

Overall, I recommend this book to deepen your understanding of the Bible and to more fully realize the compassion of Jesus. As we see who Jesus is and what He did, God transforms our hearts to be more like His!
