Over and over again in Zambia, Africa, we have shared with children and adults the Good News of salvation through faith in Jesus. Zambians are a relational people, and they value stories. Many of their traditions are passed down through stories — from parents to children to their children for generations. When you combine that with the fact that it is mostly an illiterate society and English is not their primary language, we have almost aways chosen to use the Evangecube (www.e3resources.org) to share our faith in Zambia. The story of Jesus comes alive through the pictures and verses that you use to share the Gospel with this tool. This Evangecube Evangelism is not just for oversees, though, it is a great way to tell of the message of Jesus to anyone, anywhere, and any time!

Why does the Evangecube work well?
- It is a cube of pictures from the story of Jesus.
- It has moving parts which grab people’s attention.
- It is designed for children and adults to share with children and adults.
How do you use the Evangecube?
1. Start with the picture of a person on one side and light on the other.

The key verse in this section is I John 1:5. “This is the message we have heard from Him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all.” God has no darkness in Him; He is light. He is pure and always good. We call that holy. He cannot do anything wrong. But there is a problem: we cannot be with God because we do things wrong all the time. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
We do things — like hit people and steal things don’t belong to us — and we say things — like calling people names or lying — and we think things — like how much we hate someone or a way to hurt people. All of these things are wrong…. and God calls those things sin. This sin keeps us from God, like the picture is showing. Romans 6:23 tells us that our sins deserve a punishment of death!
2. Follow the arrows and push the two sides away from the middle to reveal the cross.

God made a way for us to be with Him and deal with all of the sin that we have. God sent His Son Jesus, who is fully God and fully man, to come to this earth as a baby (like we see on Christmas). He grew up living a perfect life without doing any sin. Then He died on a cross. Romans 5:8 tells us, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” This death is the punishment that we needed in order for us to be with God. But God did it for us!
3. Follow the arrows and pull the two sides apart to see the stone in front of the tomb.

Jesus bled on that cross and the died. The men took him off the cross and buried Him in a tomb. First Corinthians 15:4: “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried.” This made Jesus’ friends and family sad. He did nothing wrong but died and was buried anyway. He died for sins He didn’t do because He loves us. Jesus made a way for us to be right with God.
4. Follow the arrows and pull the two sides apart to show resurrected Jesus.
He was there in the tomb for three days until He miraculously came alive! We call that resurrection! He didn’t stay dead. This is what we celebrate on Easter Sunday. Jesus defeated death and is alive! “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (I Corinthians 15:4).

5. Follow the arrows and pull the top up and the bottom down to show a man walking on a cross/bridge.

Jesus is our bridge to God. When Jesus was on the earth, He told the people, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). It is our job to realize what Jesus has done and ask Him to forgive our sins. We must have faith that only Jesus is able to save us from our sin through His death on the cross. Our good works can’t save us. Our parents being Christians can’t save us. Going to church or reading our Bibles can’t save us. Jesus is the only way to God and be connected to Him.
6. Follow the arrows and pull apart the cube to reveal two hands.

We must receive the free gift of eternal life that God is offering us by faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith– and this is not from yourselves it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.” We can never earn our way to Heaven to be with God. The only way we have our sins forgiven and be right with God is through faith in Jesus.
Romans 10:9 teaches, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” What is stopping you from doing that right now? When we do that we become children of God (John 1:12).
7. Follow the arrows and pull the cub apart. This reveals the beginning picture of the Evangecube. Now turn it over to show the side with five small symbols.
This is the side of the Evangecube that I don’t usually use for Evangelism. It can be confusing to people who are new to Christianity or the Bible. I do not want them to be confused: these action steps are not ways to earn salvation or to make God pleased with you. These pictures show the next steps for believers. They are things that those who have trusted in Jesus alone for salvation and declare Jesus is Lord will do to know God more and obey His commands.
- Pray constantly (Philippians 4:6-7)
- Read and study the Bible (I Peter 2:2)
- Meet regularly with other believers (Hebrews 10:25)
- Tell other people this Good News (Mark 16:15)
- Love God with all of your heart and love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:36-40)
The Evangecube is a great tool for Evangelism. It is one that we have used over and over again. Go to their website www.e3resources.org to learn more about the cube and how to use it more effectively or download training worksheets HERE and HERE.
